Exhibition Description:

Tenderpixel Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition from the London-based artist Richard Clements. His practice stems from his interest in holistic philosophy and the hermeneutic circle in reference to the construction of meaning.

Clements’ artistic methodology is one of inclusive scepticism, concurrently presenting and retracting sculptural propositions inherent with the work itself and in reference to an external associative horizon. He is concerned with the interrelatedness, interchangeability and historicity of materials; by focussing on the act of sculptural decision-making, he emphasizes awareness of the structures that condition the assumptions of perceived relevancy within a presented nexus.

This approach references concepts from the physics of rheology –the study of the flow and deformation of matter – applying it to the nature of the structure of thought: Clements views rational cognition as a precarious and limiting system, but one, none the less, with the potential for aqueous possibility.

Born in London, England in 1983. Clements received an MFA from Goldsmiths College (2007). Since graduating he has participated in shows locally and internationally.
